Chess is a game where two players seating one in front of another, that is, in opposite directions, are confronting each other all the way through, in between them, a Chessboard displaying two monarchic sets of pieces, precisely the same sixteen pieces are placed in a mirrored way in each side and the four corners. To start the game, a player should choose a side, it can be either whites’ or blacks’, since when no one chooses a perspective – not even raises a flag – neither stands for advocating in favour of a belief, or a minority, a people or a person in need, that would be the beginning of the end of times.
How does the Chess game go? Behold, if you cannot stand a slow, very silent game, in one-seating in the same position until the end, Chess is not for you to play. Anyway, heed Chess rules, otherwise, you might need to trade your kingdom for a horse to save your skin. For a Chess player, all pieces of the kingdom might be captured to weaken the opposite kingdom, with keenness to elaborate strategies, the player thinks several moves ahead in view to capture the opponent king until the final Check Mate when the thoughtful player wins the game.
To start the game, the classical move is generally to pick the pawn by its head or push it by two squares ahead over a chessboard with 8 x 8 clear and dark squares, distributed in diagonals. Each player has its turn, never repeats the same player, a piece is moved with the player’s hand preparing an imminent trap for the opponent king; the first front consists of only pawns in guard to protect the second row for royal’s representatives and assistants. Each small pawn dressed alike, with a starched skirt, had put itself in front of a member of the Court to defend him. Are those Scottish pawns, cooks with aprons, laboratory workers with lead aprons, or innocent maids protecting their kingdom? Only pawns never return in this game, having to always walk straight forward, one step at a time; if by any chance, one pawn is capable of surviving till the last square at the other side, it might become coronated as a queen or promoted to another piece, except a king.
From the far right to the far left, there are eight twin pawns in the front line, including the one at the rightmost wing, six pawns in-between, another at the leftmost wing. How many heads may a pawn represent in the actual world? A pawn may denote 10 citizens, a hundred citizens, or millions of citizens. Those pawns move as a defender or a believer of a unique philosophy, belief, profession, faith, consequently, from far right, middle-right, far left, middle-left faction, or just emphatically neutral. At the extremes of the row of pawns are found the most radical guys, extremists by nature, they can only capture pieces to the centreward, differently from pawns in the middle that can capture them either to the left or to the right. However, those pawns in the middle are not so self-assured the way to go, not sure about taking sides; some may even lack opinion or pretend having it.
While the royalties and assistants can always go ahead several squares and return when required, saved each first pawn’s move, pawns can advance only one square a time. A pawn cannot slide to the sides, for a change of a pawn’s direction, unexpectedly, it may further in a diagonal to capture any of the opponent’s pieces, it might be a king, a queen, a bishop, a knight, a rook or a pawn, bringing the player closer to the victory. For capturing an enemy and taking this piece out the game for good, an order had to be given, then, usually pawns justified themselves murmuring something alike, “The order came from above!” The mastermind, who secures a pawn by the head, can move him a step forward when it’s propitious, this chief in command is the player.
While in the second row…
The ladies with a sad smile moaned saying to their parents, “Oh, we thought it would be a party, but instead, we envision a battle,” both ladies with long dresses stare astonished mutually, they shouted, “We are truly in a battlefield!” The only two daughters of the royal couple occupy both sides of the king and the queen, single, customarily represented by two elegant figures widely known as bishops. That whole day the ladies passed going from one side to the other to peek through the windows, wondering if the expected visitors might happen to be amicable or just foolish rivals, nonetheless, it’s a daughters’ duty to stay beside their parents. However, observe that there was a chance of something unprecedented to happen, although all were already prepared for a bloody battle. However, for a moment, bishops closed their eyes and dreamed with white-wedding dresses and long trains turning in spiral movements all around over the board, shaking all the pieces, shining like snow, but the darkness from the shadows kept moving slowly close, and, eventually, no wedding plans had been drafted for none of them.
If darkness is coming, it is a social duty to raise their faithful light or a few truthful beliefs and showing no fear, continue the combat where some of them might be consecrated as authentic heroes. Knights, bishops, and fortresses are rearranging themselves to protect their people from the nearness of a combat. In the face of an unfair battle, bishops as a royalty’s descendants looks for another way of settling differences –since the unreasonable combat doesn’t seem a fight which is worthy to die for, at least, according to the sad bishops.
With two knights on their horses, sided with the two bishops, the reign could be confident that will not suffer any lack of supplies. Ready for departing from a square situated between a bishop and a rook-fortress, a knight always swings onwards or backwards, seeming a drunkard, jumps three squares ahead and lands to the right or left square: avoiding any irregular terrain in front. From anywhere, a knight may return to a safer place in the kingdom. Exceptionally, the knight may leap over any other piece in his way, either from their own kingdom or the opponent’s. Besides to supplies, knights could also convey a romantic missive.
A missive with a proposal might be a very imperative game changer for the whole kingdom when the entire army would go from bloodshed intention to an intense desire of cheering and celebrating communion. A turn of page, the royal daughters’ entry in another Court; expanding the reign, gaining terrain fair and square. Without the expected loving missive arrival, the royal guardians lack some enthusiasm of searching for a consort to their daughters, due to a previous promise made earlier by them of their daughters serving in the Church in exchange for the Almighty’s blessing for the reign.
Admitting no missive has been brought by the knights, the game started. Whereas one sister always thrusts herself in a diagonal of pure white squares, another sister deeps throughout over dark magic squares, just like that, they will never get together again, not allowed to meet each other, impeded of exchanging secrets or making any plan together. At both corners of the second row, some unknown figure resides metamorphosing itself between a Rook, Fortress, Castle, Chariot, and inside some magic is being developed for, one day, spell an enchantment powerful enough to freed the royal princesses from ecclesiastical commitment. In such a glorious day, the mystic shall become an essential part of the monarchy or, even better, able to create new realms and dimensions. If the right magic spelling breaks the bad enchanting, both bishopswill no longer need to leave their parent’s side. Otherwise, they would have become the church’s voice or symbols of a virginal crusade, announcing that Virgin that once, long ago, talked with an Angel, gave birth to the son of the Only God, and generated a powerful renewing religion to elevate all people.
The magic of the rook-fortress-castle-chariot is so deep-seated that no piece may inadvertently stand in its laterals because the rook-fortress-castle-chariot flings several squares throwing down any piece resting in its horizontal perspective. So powerful the wizardry of this rook-fortress-castle-chariot that is the only one who enjoys the opportunity of castling with their king, where they interchange their original places, consequently, a reign that was being conducted by a king, loses the king of sight and is led by an amazing untameable sorcery power to the kingdom’s victory.
If Chess were not a game from and portraying the Middle Ages, in those fortresses, scientists would be elaborating sciences there. Notwithstanding, in the distant fortresses, magicians were hidden, as usual, in order to develop an unerring trick to maintain the royal family united; not forgetting to free the princesses from an austere life and from living under their parents’ shadows. On top of all that, a falling sacrifice in the game could be prevented.
Sooner or later, since kingdoms have many differences, they battle against each other, conflicting visions keep trying to reciprocally overcome. In Europe of the Middle Age, periodic devastation was commonly caused by wars of clashing reigns willing to be preponderant and, eventually, arming themselves to turn into unbeatable potencies. Over the Chessboard a monarchy set is always standing, waiting ready to put in place a new strategy, to compete once again in fair terms.
Before colonization, the whole European continent was inhabited mostly by white folks while Africa by black people, these two races had not yet tried to mix each other. At the northern and smaller continent, white peoples settled, and at the southern, a much greater continent, the black people settled. The sun raised in the north, passing quickly by the minor continent to soon be reaching the extensive Africa, descending slowly through the entire continent thrice the longitudinal size of Europe. When leaving the southern continent in darkness at the end of a long day, the sun might not come back again at north to raise the next day.
As a Chess tradition, the player with the white pieces starts the game, meanwhile, the black kingdom resists and waits its turn ruminating on white’s first step. Are there really two peoples or is just a shadow of only one group trying to be conquered by any and all sides? Once, while the white kingdom’s player was taking longer time to plan its next move, the black army fell in love with the white army and tried to get closer to it; in a perplex turnaround, the black army thought the actual aim of the game could be to conquer the white army with sensual steps and dance. The black army surrounded the white pieces to hold them. Feeling provoked, the white pieces desired to enlighten the situation and throw their light in a way to blind the opponent. Let them fight, or else, till the sun disappears again! This combat white pieces have started, black pieces just accompany, as a combat that turns into a dance, like capoeira. White pieces stepped in each other, detached, created unbelievable castles, by its turn, black pieces stand out digging precious pieces in mines, its palace is underground. Both are afraid of intruders, sometimes, even of tourists.
In the middle of the game, the Chessboard is no longer divided between European kingdom at one extreme and African kingdom at the other, white and black pieces are not anymore on their original squares, they put their feet on the road, out of the squares, crossed borders, met new panoramas, resources, tools, vocations, habitats, soon, the pieces got all mixed and moved as a grey cloud, ready to storm in the middle of a battle, that would be seen as a blessing or an advantage for those who knew the rain would come.
Throughout the Medieval Europe, Jesus Christ has assumed an exclusive throne as a leader for life and death. Numerous churches with diversified streams and strands (Christian philosophical ramifications) are throughout the world, while in Africa below, Mary Madeleine represents the platonic young love not to be consumed, not the love for a castle, but to be one day assumed as a beloved queen. There, where the houses are made with clay as Adam was, Supper is led by Mary Madeleine and many children, life is not contained in high buildings, her sighs pass by the ceiling straws – the heat of Mary Madeleine ascends and warms those old continents around, lost in time.
People is waiting for him, Jesus Christ, to learn to love and to forgive. In the name of Mary Madeleine people shall had never raised a stone to hurt no one, in His and in her name, we shall root-out racial prejudice, discontinue abusing of families in hardship, and, definitely suppress any kind of slavery. Jesus and Mary Madeleine relation resists famous but obscure, non-physical, never officially assumed as a shadow of the case of the King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, both couples so unpredictably spiritually bonded. In a great crossing from the Ethiopia, Yemen or Sudan (it is not known exactly from which black square the Queen of Sheba departed), the black Queen crossed the board in a gust to reach closer the white King Solomon located on a black square named the Israel kingdom. The Queen of Sheba got close to King Solomon’s only to whisper in his ears about a new world where blacks and whites could marry, be happy together. Unfortunately, the King Solomon, as other kings on the Chessboard, could only walk one square at a time, therefore, could not go far from the Israel kingdom to visit the exotic lands of the Queen of Sheba. Two continents kept them apart, it’s known that the Queen, brought gifts from faraway to the wise King Solomon – was it a visit to know better the enemy or an act of frank admiration for a brilliant man, ruler, and judge?
Europe and Africa had never officially united forces, in fact, the continent above explored the richness of vast Africa below. Throughout the last two millenniums, in Europe, Jesusbecame a sort of a King Midas beneficiating cathedrals, innumerable churches, fraternities, and charitable institutions. While everything Jesus Christ touches becomes gold, Jesus cannot return to live and conclude his affair with Mary Madeleine – mirrored here by eye-catching Africa with many precious natural dowries. When Jesus Christ and Mary Madeleine will reunite their forces, they will take care better of Africa and African people too, nurture and teach them how to live a more spiritual and blessed life, but for now, both, as if they’re young, sleep over the Chessboard, among perfect symmetrical black and white squares, and yet, they keep their faith of resuscitating one day, and for love, and by love, Jesus would prove it to Mary Madeleine and they become not official queen and king waiting for the Day of Judgement when the saints will be alive again with them, then, they can be official queen and king.
By one side, hot Africa adorned by rare jewels and diamonds and strong will. At the other side, cold Europe, supported by their christening, the alliance of monarchy and church, explored African richness’s through several spots. Mary Madeleine still attracts Jesus Christ with the shine of jewels while he surrounds her with sunshine. At the end of the rainbow, they meet. While Mary Madeleine could have conquered any man she would choose, she preferred to accompany Jesus Christ with loyalty; for good measure, she would be the only force capable of giving him (eternal) continuation. Controversially, Jesus found his own way of becoming eternal between the love and the rest, the touch and the sigh, at that infinitesimal momentum where one can change things before happening (without using a knight, a bishop or a rook, nor a king or a queen to it). In that infinitesimal momentum, Jesus found his chastity, the desire of surrendering himself and all earthly things, propagating his energy of transcendence and love into heavens. That peaceful moment when one is in distress, however, remarkably, strengthens a belief in redemption and elevation.
Europe will only be able to not sink in the racism accepting the principle that the Taoism symbol describes with perfection, the respectful association of two opposites, in this case, white and black. Tao symbol is a circle divided by a wave in the middle, separating the black and white side. Each side exhibits inside its own globe of the opposite colour – the white hemisphere has a black circle (a circle of people gathered together) while the black hemisphere has a white circle (a lonely seed to blossom), the principle and the end.
In Europe, people are not used to live in circles as African tribes, the standard structure there is a square of the castellar-style tradition. Therefore, the malleable Tao symbol exploded and became a board with 64 squares, half white and half black squares, with two kingdoms of different colours and races standing in front of each other. Sometimes, they fight to conquer the whole board, perhaps, the winner might throw a private party on it later.
In Chess, the players shall play with only one army, only one kingdom, black or white; in real life, the player has to respect peoples from the most diverse origins, any hue of colour or precedence; where nothing is so black or totally white, the key is respect. The actual world has no need for hunting games between humans of varied background, we shall be friends independent of colour, creed or race, we’re now a global community and show respect for each other is the noblest trace a person shall expose in each step.
While players are off, the game has not yet restarted, Chessboard sits perfectly mounted with both kingdoms mirrored in formation, in a lasting peaceful and reflexive momentum in front of each other. Now that no player will move the pieces by their heads (beliefs), the game is already won. All members are paralleled and know that if one piece moves, it is expected to trigger a reaction from the other side. So many time passed with both armies waiting for a player, they were becoming dusted, no pawn had been moved forward, so after a long wait, the queen cries out: -Let us leave these pawns with skirts to have the battle they chose! And the king: -Right about turn! The Court decided to give a half-turn and got baffled discovering that there was a whole different world behind them, without tiles!
The queen started to applaud with joy, each of the integrants of her Court was so tired of living so restrained by the etiquette, having to step very carefully in a simulacrum of a minefield; a lot of tension, each following discretly if everyone was moving accordingly. A lot of rules regulated where each one could step and where not, while each piece has to follow particular rules. One might be able to step in a square in front, but not in the following square. All those advances having to be so calculated, living between visible limits with specific invariable functions didn’t bring them joy, just a sort of security, safe predictability in their ways of living. A piece could never be relocated without thinking twice what such move would represent in the bigger picture.
Afar from the minefield, they will no more entering in a combat, there was a big garden to stroll, before them, the most astonishing and beautiful colour of the green field. Eventually, knights and horses didn’t have to swing anymore and they sprinted as soon got confidence, not having to look down to count one, two, three… The garden was gorgeous, no more black and white tiles, all green, and rose, and yellow, and red, and smelling good.
